Collaboration is central to how IED Botswana delivers sustainable entrepreneurship development. We work with businesses, development organisations, government institutions and innovation ecosystem partners to connect entrepreneurs with knowledge, resources, mentorship and opportunities.

Programme and Funding Partners

First National Bank Botswana Foundation

Funds the First Youth Programme, delivered through the First Youth Centre in Molepolole. It is the Foundation’s largest corporate social investment project.

Kgalagadi Breweries Limited

Provided seed capital for the KBL KickStart Programme. Fifty entrepreneurs were trained and fifteen received funding totalling P1.75 million.

Palms for Life Fund

Provided seed funding for the Rural Youth Empowerment Programme, delivered with the Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs for Mr and Miss RADP participants.

United Nations Development Programme

IED was an implementing partner of the UNDP Supplier Development Programme, strengthening local suppliers to participate in corporate and institutional supply chains.

Innovation and Ecosystem Partners

Botswana Digital & Innovation Hub

IED supported technology start-ups incubated at the Hub with market-validation and commercialisation mentorship. Ten start-ups took part.

UniPod, University of Botswana

IED mentors selected start-ups at the UniPod, bringing enterprise-development experience into the university’s innovation ecosystem.

Government Endorsement and Institutional Collaborators

Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship

The Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship has endorsed IED’s work in developing entrepreneurs and strengthening Botswana’s enterprise ecosystem.

Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs

The Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs has endorsed IED’s work in developing young entrepreneurs and strengthening Botswana’s enterprise ecosystem.

Japan International Cooperation Agency

IED provided consultancy support, within an international consortium, for the preparatory work on the SME Promotion Two-Step Loan Project to the Government of Botswana, including an SME survey and capacity-development needs assessment.

IED has also collaborated with the Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs on the Rural Youth Empowerment Programme.
